Dr. Joseph Mocanu

About

Joseph Mocanu began his career as a scientist, developing new cancer therapies during his PhD at the University of Toronto. During his studies, he co-founded a medical device startup, which introduced him to the world of business and venture capital. He gained experience in active investing at DM Capital in Shenzhen, where he helped launch their first fund, Harmony. He then joined Oliver Wyman’s health and life sciences practice, where he consulted on over 75 projects across 20+ markets, assisting global healthcare clients with their business and market strategies, and advising funds and conglomerates on healthcare investment strategies. Seeing a need for more early-stage investment for healthcare founders, he began angel investing in health tech companies in 2014, building a portfolio of 9 companies by 2018. He then launched Verge HealthTech.
