Pierre-Edouard Stérin is the Founder and President of Otium Capital. He graduated from the Université Paris-Sorbonne and EM Lyon before starting his career in finance in 1998 at Société Générale and Exane, where he worked as a sales manager and analyst. He then launched BlackOrange, an online software and video game sales company that generated €3 million in revenue in its first fiscal year before being sold in 2001. In 2003, he started Smartbox, a gift box concept. Smartbox grew rapidly and acquired its franchisor with the support of financial partners, becoming a leader in its sector with a presence in 11 countries and a business volume of €500 million. In 2013, Pierre-Edouard transitioned leadership to a new operational team, and the Smartbox group was sold in 2022. Pierre-Edouard has invested in several startups, including LaFourchette, a restaurant booking platform, from 2009 to 2014. LaFourchette was sold to TripAdvisor in 2014 for $150 million.
