Odense Robotics StartUp Fund is a non-profit organization dedicated to fostering the growth of early-stage robotics and drone startups in Denmark and abroad. The fund provides a comprehensive support package that includes founder-friendly investment with flexible repayment terms that allow founders to retain full ownership, access to a world-class incubator located at the Danish Technological Institute in Odense, and mentorship from leading figures in the Danish robotics and drone industry, along with technical experts and business coaches. The fund focuses on creating a sustainable ecosystem that fosters the creation of successful robotics and drone startups. Returns from loans and additional payments from acquisitions are reinvested into the fund, ensuring a continuous flow of support for new ventures. The fund's investment strategy centers around providing capital, expertise, and facilities to startups in the robotics and drone sector. The goal is to accelerate the commercialization of innovative technologies and build lasting benefits for startup founders, investors, the Danish robotics industry, and the broader community. The fund is located at the heart of Denmark's thriving robotics and drone industry and startup scene in Odense, and aims to make it easier for the startups to meet potential partners and access new opportunities to develop and later commercialise their startup. The fund aims to provide an ideal environment to start and run a successful business, which is helped by Denmark being ranked highly for ease of doing business and the country being one of the most digital societies in the world. The fund aims to replicate the success of Danish robotics companies like Universal Robots and Mobile Industrial Robots (MIR) which are both headquartered in Odense. The fund also addresses the need for better access to capital and professional mentoring for promising startups within robotics and automation. Odense Robotics StartUp Fund operates under the governance of an independent board of directors with expertise in business development within robotics and the operation of independent commercial funds. The board members are unpaid and appointed for four-year terms. The fund adheres to the Commercial Foundations Act, the Financial Statements Act, and the Danish Business Authority’s Recommendations on Good Foundation Governance. The fund's model is unique in Denmark in the robotics startup space.
