José Lopez Portillo is a Founding Managing Partner of Besantcapital. He has experience as a private equity manager, having acted as a senior executive in growth-expansion funds in Mexico and emerging markets with more than $245 million of assets under management in the telecommunications, media, financial services, and digital sectors. Prior to Besant, José was the Founder of Pedralbes Partners, a Mexico based merchant bank focused on growth companies across Latin America. He was also a Principal at LIV Capital, a venture growth capital fund manager in Mexico focused on Digital and Media, and a Senior Associate at Delta Partners in Dubai, a management consulting and private equity firm focused on Digital and Media. He started his career as a Business Analyst at McKinsey in Mexico City and Operations Manager at Prolyt, an energy and power electronics company in Mexico. José holds an MBA from IESE Business School, Barcelona and a Bachelor of Science Honors in Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering from ITESM, Mexico City.
