Kaja Wasik, PhD

Kaja Wasik joined Ahren in 2025 as an Entrepreneur in Residence to support the investment team, focusing on innovations at the intersection of biology, environmental systems, and data science. She is also a Founder in Residence at the UK’s Advanced Research and Invention Agency (ARIA) and Convergent Research, working on embedding biodiversity into economic decision-making frameworks. Previously, Kaja co-founded Variant Bio, where she led the identification of new therapeutic targets by studying the genetics of people with exceptional traits and pioneered benefit-sharing models. She also co-founded Gencove, a platform for low-pass genome sequencing and cloud-based imputation. Kaja has served as an adjunct professor at the J. Craig Venter Institute. She holds a PhD in molecular biology from Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory and completed her postdoctoral research at the New York Genome Center.
